In his limited spare time, Carmen likes to fish, go the beach and play with our grandkids.
Susan DiStefano- Susan is new to the boating world, having worked as an RN since 1977 for her first career (you can do the math). She loves the change. Susan handles the financial and office aspects of Mermaid’s Cove as well as staffing and managing the store and kayak rentals and liasing with all the various agencies involved with marinas. She serves on the Brick Township Tourism Committee. She keeps busy taking business classes and is planning to learn web design. Any other free time is spent with beloved granddaughters Brianna and Brooke. Feel free to call her with any questions or concerns.
Carmen DiStefano Jr.- Carmen Jr. has worked with his dad at the former Winter’s Yacht Basin, Ocean Beach Marina in Lavallette and MarineMax in Brick and has gained experience in sales, detailing, fuel docks, and general yard help and continues learning marine mechanics. He also keeps busy playing bass with his band and traveling back and forth to Philly where his girlfriend lives. He lives onsite and watches the marina for us when we are not here.
Steven DiStefano- Steven works part-time with us since he is a full time student at OCC and until very recently also worked a second job. Steven has worked at both the former Winter’s Yacht Basin and Ocean Beach Marina as general yard help and detailing. Steven loves the beach and skim boarding and has placed in official skim board contests both here in NJ and in Delaware. He will be with us full time until August when he leaves us to go to school out of state in Delaware. We will miss him but will get him here whenever he is home.
Kevin Kinsella- Kevin has worked at Ocean Beach Marina in Parts/Ship Store and as general yard help. He also worked at MarineMax Brick detailing. He currently also works at Long Horn’s in Brick hosting so if you are there stop in and say hello. Kevin loves the beach, snowboarding, and spending time in Belmar. He is planning to return to school after completing a year at OCC and then taking some time off from school. He will still work here with us whenever he can.
Cody- Cody works here part time as the marina dog. He is eleven years old and getting to be an old man so mostly he just sleeps in the sun. He is very kind and gentle and loves a belly rub. Just don’t fall for his begging eyes and give him any treats as he is on a strict reducing diet!
Brianna- Brianna also puts in some hours at the marina and is very accomplished at her jobs. She helps her Mimi in the office with accounts and Papa also puts her to work in the yard detailing. She is very happy to be paid with “pollypops” so she is cheap help.
Brookie- Brookie hasn’t officially started work yet, but earns her keep around here by being adorable and charming anybody who comes in. She just turned 1 on April 2nd and we are over the moon about our newest grandbaby.
Favorite charity: Smile Train. We now take a particular interest in and raise money for this wonderful organization. Our Brookie was born with a severe cleft lip/palate defect. Thanks to the wonderful Craniofacial team at CHOP she is doing great after 2 surgeries. Last summer we started raising money here at the marina for Smile Train, calling our effort Smiles for Brooke, by selling Susan’s homemade cookies and brownies. Some people helped by contributing a few cents or dollars to the jar. We have a few more fundraising ideas for this summer so check the website for events, particularly “MarinaOlympics”, and maybe buy some cookies at the store when they are available. 100% goes straight to Smile Train. Thank you!
